People fear what they do not understand. But what if you feared yourself?

Jesus, or Yeshua Bar Joseph as he is known to his family, is just past thirty years of age. He is well aware that there are those around him who still whisper about his birth: the Magi, the gifts, the Angel that prophecied his coming. He wants nothing more than to live a normal life amongst his family.

He longs to be a normal man but those around him watch. They wait. The winter has been cruel, dry; no rain has graced the land around them. So they hope that Jesus will bring great change. It is only a matter of time.

Behind closed doors, there are many secrets.

We all have secrets. We hold on to them tightly, even if they burn our hands, knowing that they must never see the light of day. Released into the light, these secrets could heal one life and shatter another.

We will take our secrets to the grave, taking comfort in the fact that no one will hear them, that no one will know them. That no one will know who we really and truly are. This is how things have always been.

In Disraeli Avenue, there are lots of secrets; lots of hidden truths buried like treasure. Some are like soft golden coins, shining in the light and begging to be heard. Some are like rubies with sharp edged teeth, waiting to bite the hand that dips into them and draw blood.

What a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours – lose yourself in a blending of the realms of Asian mythology and pulp fiction. Of course the fact that this is the FIRST ever pairing of Jackie Chan and Jet Li on the big screen doesn’t hurt at all! You pretty much assume that you’ll have a great laugh, or twenty, and see loads of action - and that assumption would be correct!

Kung-fu enthusiast Jason Tripitikas (Michael Angarano) befriends an ancient pawnshop owner – Old Hop (Jackie Chan), he has no idea what is in store for him. He is the only one. Old Hop knows that Jason is the one known to ancient prophecy as “the Seeker,” and the one who will return the ancient staff to its rightful owner, the Monkey King (Jet Li).

High school is the last vestige of freedom before adulthood and its responsibilities take hold, changing things forever. For Karen Ann McNeil the time of life where parties took precedence is coming to an end, and something dark is plaguing her along the way. Disturbing visions dog her every step, visions of a future that is black and terrifying. In an effort to quell her fears, and perhaps provide herself with a life raft, Karen writes a note for her boyfriend explaining everything to the best of her ability.

Richard is given the greatest gift that she has to offer, her virginity. Then a few hours later, Karen slips into a coma. Completely unknowing of the child that has been conceived in that brief sharing of their love’s physical manifestation, Karen is lost within the coma. Nine months later, she gives birth and Richard becomes a father at seventeen years of age.

Lexi Smart is having a bad go of things.

She didn’t get a bonus from work, her boyfriend Loser Dave has stood her up for the millionth time and her father has just died. She has a dead end job that’s going nowhere, has frizzy hair and bad teeth. She knows that something has to change soon.

Unfortunately, that change comes in the form of a car accident.

Upon waking up in the hospital, Lexi is a new woman. Her bad teeth are replaced with white shiny ones, her frizzy hair is now sleek and lovely and she has a new job as director of her own department.

Hang on, that can’t be right, can it?

This is the band that in the early 80's, flew in the face of hard rock convention, and won! In a year that saw Fleetwood Mac file for bankruptcy in the USA, The Cult was breaking ground with the album "Dreamtime," bringing together the raw passion of 70's punk and the mysticism of 60's psychedelic rock. A few years later when Madonna was behaving "Like a Virgin" The Cult was bringing it with their classic hit "She Sells Sanctuary."

A change of style to more mainstream rock gave us 1987's “Electric” and with 1989's “Sonic Temple,” they earned themselves some time headlining the arena rock circuit. They were the most successful British Hard Rock of the late 80's and early 90's. You can hear influences from Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Aerosmith, and even The Doors in their music. Many of singer Ian Astbury's lyrics focus on the spiritual aspects of life, and he conveys his sense of humanity, and his ideology of peaceful protest of war and injustice.

I really like this author’s twisted sense of humor. It helps to keep her work fresh and enjoyable.

Rachel Morgan is an independent bounty hunter, working for herself and telling the corporations to stick it somewhere. She almost paid for her independence with her life – nobody quits and gets away with it! Nobody but Rachael Morgan, that is.

“The Good, The Bad, and The Undead” offers an astounding plot and provides a very healthy cast of entertaining characters, together with antagonists and a protagonist that the reader is able to understand and relate to. Not to mention a serious dose of attitude, and some luscious sexual undertones. However, what else would one expect from a bounty hunter and witch whose specialty is criminals of supernatural origins, and whose partner is a vampire?
